Our Services

Services

  • In-depth physical examinations

We try to do as complete an examination as possible to allow us to detect  problems that your pet may have and take care of them before they create other problems

  • Cat Friendly Health Care and Boarding

We strive to make every visit for every pet as stress- free and enjoyable as possible. Realizing that cats have very different needs from dogs we try to provide a separate area for waiting, separate boarding area and approach their care specifically for their specific needs. We are currently working on establishing our practice as a "Cat Friendly Practice" through the American Association of Feline Practitioners and we welcome any suggestions that our cat loving clients recommend to make each visit better.

  • Alternative medicine and therapy

We try to evaluate and offer alternative (complemantary) medications and therapy when we are comfortable that the treatment is both safe and effective. Some of the alternative treatments we have available are:
    - magnetic pet pads for painful and arthritic pets
    - nutraceuticals for joint health
    - nutraceutical and dietary treatment for senility (cognitive dysfunction)
    - liver support medication
    - herbal products for treating cancer, cushing's disease, allergy, etc.

  • Extensive in-house laboratory testing

We have the laboratory equipment needed to do comprehensive testing for your pet in-house when results are needed immediately, and have twice daily pickup service for a national lab that will send us results within 12-24 hours.

  • Hospitalization and intensive care facilities

Our hospital is set up to allow us to keep critical care patients in an Intensive care ward that is adjacent to the treatment area and easy to monitor. We have an oxygen cage that is temperature controlled and also have the ability to have continuous monitoring of vital functions and controlled IV fluid administration..
After hours, all critical care patients requiring monitoring are transported by their owners to one of the emergency clinics that are associated with our hospital.

  • Contagious disease isolation ward

Our isoation ward allows us to hospitalize patients with potentially conagious diseases and prevent contamination of other hospital areas. Strict isolation procedures are followed to avoid carrying germs from the area and even the air system is set up to avoid mixing of isolation air with the hospital air system.

  • General and orthopedic surgery

Our surgery suite allows us to perform many soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries and maintain a sterile environment. All of our patients are monitored for blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, continuous EKG and respiratory rate and an assistant is always present to adjust the anesthesia to maintain the optimum level and insure the safety of your pet.
We also have a relationship with area surgery specialists for surgeries that require their expertise.

  • Dental care

Dental care is as important to your pet as it is to us. We encourage good dental hygiene and routine dental care and perform regular dental prophylaxis (scaling and polishing) and minor periodontal and dental surgical procedures as needed. We also have the ability to refer to a dental specialist that we are fortunate to have in the area.

  • Digital radiography

Since 2004 we have been using digital radiography and realized immediately that it enables us to do much more than standard radiography. The digital x-ray allows us to enlarge the image and focus in on different areas of interest. It also allows us to change the contrast and brightness which enables us to detect more subtle x-ray changes. These x-rays can also be emailed to specialists and online evaluation services which is very helpful in complicated and confusing cases, allowing us to have a specialty consult without going to the specialist.

  • Digital ultrasound

We have been performing in-house ultrasound since 1990, but have had a digital unit since 2005. As with the digital x-rays, digital ultrasound allows us to evaluate more closely and also allows us to get specialists to evaluate our ultrasound images and make recommendations.

  • In-house Pharmacy

Our hospital pharmacy is well stocked with all of the items that are used for treatment of pets as well as a number of nutraceutical products and effective herbal treatments.

  • Preventative health care

While we are always ready to treat health problems as they arise, we especially try to get our clients to take a prevention approach to their pet's healthcare.
We try to tailor our vaccine recommendations to the risks that each pet faces and recommend complete internal and external parasite control.
Life style changes are as important for our pets as they are for us and we try to assess over all life styles that each pet experiences and make recommendations that can help to reduce disease risks.
Healthy weight and proper diet and exercise in encouraged for all pets.

  • Geriatric care

Older pets have problems and concerns that are different than they had when younger. Therefore, we try to adjust our recommendations as pets age to reflect these changes.
Activity and exposure differences may change vaccine requirements and parasite control.
Age related arthritis develops at different times in different dogs, but all older pets benefit from Glucosamine and MSM products and safe pain medications are also available that can help older pets to maintain their normal activities.
Twice yearly examinations become more important since pets age at a much faster pace than we do.
Regular blood and urine testing is beneficial at all ages for early detection of disease, but is even more important in older pets to help detect "silent" types of disease such as kidney or liver problems that can go undetected until they are very advanced.

  • Limited boarding for our regular patients

We have sufficient boarding space that we are able to offer boarding of pets for our regular clients and especially for those requiring medications while they are boarded
